Botulinum toxin ( Dysport®) is a simple, nonsurgical treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. "Tox", as we like to call it, weakens the muscle that causes the lines to form, so with time and continued treatment, we can erase the lines of time.

Sculptra® Aesthetic is an excellent option for adding volume throughout the entire face. As you age, your body’s collagen production decreases, and you may begin to see wrinkles. Sculptra works to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds as it replaces lost collagen, which can help provide a refined, more youthful-looking appearance.
What is Scuptra? How does Sculptra work?
Sculptra is one of the longest-lasting “fillers” available. It works by initially filling a wrinkle with PLLA micro-particles*. As these microscopic beads biodegrade they stimulate the production of new collagen. Sculptra is suitable for deep folds between the nose and the mouth (nasolabial folds), the lines framing your mouth (marionette lines), and chin wrinkles. Final results do not happen for a number of weeks so it is very appealing to many people because it is more subtle than dermal fillers.
If you would like to improve the look of smile lines, marionette lines or chin wrinkles, and other areas of your face where you’ve lost skin volume, without looking like you have “had work done,” Sculptra may be an excellent choice as the effects are gradual. You have more control over your appearance since you can discuss with our expert practitioners the number of injections and the amount used during your visits. Sculptra usually requires three injections over a three-to-four-month period after which results can last for up to two years.
Because Sculptra is a synthetic, biocompatible substance made from lactic acid – a natural substance that is present in your body already – there’s no need for allergy pre-testing prior to a Sculptra treatment. However, to reduce the risk of bleeding, we suggest that you stop taking anti-inflammatories such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen a few days before treatment.
There is little or no downtime after receiving Sculptra injections. Most people can return to their normal activities immediately after your visit. Swelling, bruising, and other side effects are usually mild and subside within a few days. Doing the following will be helpful in speeding your recovery:
- Apply a cold pack to the affected area for a few minutes at a time within the first 24 hours.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure until any redness and swelling has resolved. Always use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher during outdoor activities.
Immediately after a Sculptra treatment, the area of the face that was injected will appear to be filled, because of the PLLA beads and the water content in the injected gel. This temporary fullness, along with swelling, will recede within a few days. The true and lasting effects of the Sculptra treatment take several weeks to become evident. Because it takes time for the effects of Sculptra to become apparent, the treatment regimen for Sculptra is generally, “treat, wait, assess, and retreat as necessary.”
On average, two to three injection sessions are needed over a period of a few months. Sculptra has longer-lasting results when compared to many dermal fillers. Unlike most hyaluronic acid treatments that may last around twelve months, Sculptra can last up to two years. Sculptra treatments last longer because it stimulates your own cells to produce more collagen.

While many patients love traditional dermal fillers others prefer a more natural product such as platelet-rich plasma, known as PRP. At Blush Medspa & Laser we are excited to offer this all natural product for patients interested in a more organic treatment and for those with a history of anaphylactic reaction where traditional dermal fillers are contraindicated.
What is platelet-rich plasma (PRP)?
Platelet-rich plasma, known as PRP, uses growth factors from the platelets of the patient’s own blood. When injected into the tissue, the highly concentrated platelets release growth factors that flood the area and stimulate the body’s own natural collagen building process to help improve volume and remodeling of the tissue.
Where does platelet-rich plasma come from?
PRP is created by taking a sample of blood from the patient that is being treated. The blood is then placed into a centrifuge where it is separated into platelet-rich plasma, platelet-poor plasma, and red blood cells. During the centrifuging process the platelet-rich component is separated out from the other components and concentrated to more than 4-13 times baseline.
How does platelet-rich plasma work as a dermal filler alternative?
PRP may be used as an alternative to dermal filler or in conjunction with it. When PRP is injected into the skin it helps to stimulate the deeper tissues to produce collagen and increase volume.
Unlike dermal fillers which produce long lasting volume, PRP acts to provide some volume while also stimulating the body’s own collagen. When the body’s own natural collagen is stimulated, PRP will help to naturally restore facial volume, remodel the tissue and improve facial lines, wrinkles, and folds such as the nasolabial folds and marionette lines.
When used in conjunction with dermal filler, PRP can help increase the effectiveness and longevity of fillers.
What is considered “Quality” PRP?
There are many factors that can influence the quality of PRP. First is the quality of the patient’s own platelets. Patients with a known history of low platelets or platelet dysfunction may not be an ideal candidate for PRP treatments. For optimal results most PRP applications require a 5-7x greater than baseline concentration of platelets. At Blush Medspa & Laser we are proud to offer a system that allows us the ability to customize both the concentration as well as the volume of PRP for each patient. This highly customizable closed system allows us to deliver excellent results for our patients.

How many treatments will I need and how long will my PRP Filler last?
Individual results vary. The results and longevity of PRP treatment are dependent on the patient’s ability to respond to their own cell stimulation. Some patients may only require one treatment while others may require one treatment monthly for 3 months to provide longer lasting results of up to 1-2 years.
Does PRP Hurt?
When PRP is injected into the tissue a burning or stinging sensation may be felt. Lidocaine is often mixed directly with the PRP to help reduce discomfort. In more sensitive areas a local anesthetic may also be used. Some patients may experience mild discomfort after a treatment. Most patients do not require any medication post-treatment however acetaminophen may be taken if you experience discomfort.
